When Raymond steps into a glittering party at the van Staden mansion, he’s prepared for a night of drinking and seeing old friends—not that this night would be his last. Beneath the glamor and glitter, something lurks in the mansion. Is it behind the practiced smiles? Or in the shadows beneath the couch?
For thirty years, Aysel has been cut off from the night and the moon. After the ancient order of priestesses, the Chiroluna, was destroyed and scattered, plagues and famine grip the Solerium Kingdom. Aysel, one of the last remaining priestesses, longs to escape from her prison, but her husband refuses to release her so she can find her remaining sisters and tend to the land as they had for centuries.
As the full moon draws closer, Aysel plots her escape. But breaking out of the castle is one thing. Freeing herself from the king is another.

Priestess of Moonlight is a beautiful short story depicting a unique priestess, trapped as a bird in a cage and plotting her escape. The characters have such depth and nuance to them that I forgot this was only 29 pages long!

A fabulous self-contained short story! This is a unique spin on shape shifting fantasy and I really enjoyed it.
